| In 1999 our
next-door neighbors moved away, leaving a cat behind. This cat
moved over to our place giving the impression that she was homeless
and starving. She was eating the dog food that the birds dropped. We
started putting food out for her and she found a secret way to get
in and out of Charlie's motor home. Soon she had taken over
the motor home and walked all over Charlie's stuff when he was
working.
The following summer Linda,
the lady across the street, told us this cat had been hers and was
named Lydia. It seems that Lydia didn't like it when Linda
took in some other cats and moved over to our next-door neighbors
whose cat had died. When they moved she came to us as she
thought we needed a cat.
Lydia also likes our basement
that has an outside door. This basement is only a partial
one about 12fr x 20ft with a crawl space to go under the rest of
the house. The door is the only way in an out. So if
she is down there and wants out, she crawls under the bathroom and
meows loudly until you go outside and down to the door and open it
and let her out. The basement is used as a grooming room for
the dogs. Now, imagine if you can, Mindy in the bathtub or
Cubby on the grooming table and Lydia crawls out stretching and
meowing from the crawlspace. She always retreats before they
regain their senses.
Lydia doesn't seem to mind
the dogs but doesn't allow any other cats here.
